The past two days have been nothing short of dramatic. This past Monday, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a competition to determine the top exclusive title of this console generation. You were given eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X games to compete against each other, culminating in a final showdown where the top game from each platform would battle it out. There have been some nail-biting finishes in the initial matchups, particularly yesterday’s razor-thin votes. Now, it's time to crown the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games ahead of the championship on Thursday.

The PS5 Side

For PlayStation 5, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Perhaps it's expected considering that it took home the top prize at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its victory over God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. However, to reach the championship, it'll have to go through the MVP of the PS5 generation: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the semi-finals, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to secure a spot in the final four. Will Spider-Man defeat a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he fated to become a miniature appearance in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

The Xbox Series X Side

For Xbox Series X has been more exciting. Coming out on top from a more eclectic field of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the racing adventure title already, demonstrating that a more specialized genre game earns to be on the equal footing as classic platformers and story-driven epics. Its final obstacle on the way to the championship is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a crowd favorite, beating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a much bigger game from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to Xbox itself? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy.
