Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced turning to custom matches created through Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, underscoring just how demanding these assignments have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of obtaining twelve from the forty-one primary weapons found within the game.

Several of these restricted firearms may soon make their appearance on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

On Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and functions solely at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

A different forum member highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with marksman guns

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and possibly a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if completing the missions in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

At the moment, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous multiplayer missions, expecting a more balanced player experience in future updates.
